When you’re living inside a snowglobe, it’s important to have good wine. It helps you admire the view, while dulling the memory of your last visit to the grocery store.
I actually avoided the obligatory stock up trip this time, but only because I called the hubby first. Despite the fact that I shop for my entire week on Sunday, I can get a little swept up in the “We’re going to be snowed in for ever! Do we have enough toilet paper?” craze of it all. I usually need someone to talk me off the ledge.
I’m still not sure I made the right decision though, as there weren’t any brownies in the house. Luckily, we had wine.
San de Guilhem, 2012, Vin de Pays des Cotes de Gascogne: A crisp, fruity white that tastes like spring – We had it last night with salmon and grilled pineapple.
Rio Madre Rioja, Denominacion de Origen Calificada, Graciano: A spicy red with bold flavors
Shebang, Sixth Cuvee, California, Red Wine: A great tasting, easy drinking red blend, which would be perfect at a dinner party
Le Jaja de Jau, Syrah: A favorite of mine, it has a nice peppery flavor
With snow in the forecast for Saturday, you might want to stock up now….before the inevitable panic in the streets.
